They look like the flesh of animals. Many trees flower several times a year, probably thanks to the blessings of generous sunshine and rain. There is no desperation to conserve energy, to aim for the best season, and to risk one's life in order to preserve\u3000seeds.  Surrounded by such trees and living in the land of Southeast Asia, I found myself gradually freeing myself from \"individuality,\" which I had unconsciously been pressured to deal with in my life in the United States.  In Western societies, the boundaries of the \"individual\" are as solid and clear as a house made of stone or brick in the same region. In Asia, however, this does not seem to be the case.  In Japan, the boundaries of the \"individual\" are vague, just as the traditional house is built with combinations of planes and the boundaries between outside and inside are ambiguous. The traditional style houses in Singapore are made of stone and wood, but because of the year-round heat and humidity, there are many air vents that remain unblocked so that outside air can always enter, creating a gentle connection between inside and outside.  In Singapore, people have a different style communication than the confrontation between \"individuals,\" and I feel a loose connection with outer worlds.  While living in such an environment, I started feeling that trees and birds, which had been formally the object of my mental projection, were now an extension of my body and mind. This led me exploration of the connections between plants and animals inherent in mythological images by painting them."}
